WSP is currently initiating a search for a Solutions Architect for our Sacramento, California office.
Under the general direction of the California High-Speed Rail Authority’s (Authority’s) Application Support Manager, the Solution Architect will be an expert advisor and specialist to IT management and project teams to support the design, development, and delivery of IT systems, including participation in solution analyses. In addition, the Solution Architect will be tasked with the review of existing applications; ensure adequate documentation for ongoing maintenance and support; assist with ADA compliance issues; ensure applications are optimized; assist with and plan integration activities; and support the creation of solution development standards for the enterprise. The Solution Architect will help ensure alignment between the business, information, and technical needs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in the definition of solution requirements, solution analysis, and lead the solution design to support the delivery of IT applications to meet business/programmatic needs of the Authority. Review project work products including the technical analysis, design documents, and deliverables for accuracy and completeness. Lead the deliverable review and approval for Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) artifacts. Collaborate with technical resources to ensure development standards, guidelines and best practices are being met.
  • Support the maintenance and operations of existing IT applications. Manage the development and review the existing system artifacts (e.g., application architecture, infrastructure architecture, analysis and design documents) for accuracy and completeness. Provide recommendations for system optimization, as appropriate. Work with application/system administrators to resolve complex issues. Collaborate with information security staff and provide input towards application security.
  • Establish standards and best practices for system design, development, deployment, and system maintenance & operations. 


<div>Minimum Qualifications:</div> <div> </div> <div class="O0"> <ul> <li>Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience/degree.</li> <li>7+ years of professional experience with the duties and responsibilities listed above.</li> <li>Proficiency and knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook.</li> <li>Knowledge of Project tracking applications such as JIRA, Rally, TFS, and Microsoft Project.</li> <li>Knowledge of process improvement strategies for business processes and systems; creating and analyzing workflow diagrams and reporting techniques;</li> <li>Ability to work and communicate effectively with others using courtesy, respect, and sensitivity; and follow and adhere to company policies</li> <li>Ability to use analytical techniques to provide cost analysis and propose solutions.</li> <li>Ability to research and compile data and maintain accurate and complete project records.</li> <li>Ability to coordinate directly and indirectly with project members to ensure the proper communication of expectations and the quality of deliverables.</li> <li>Ability to review and analyze effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems to develop strategies for improving and/or further leveraging those systems.</li> <li>Ability to collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications.</li> <li>Ability to conduct research on software and hardware products to justify recommendations and support procurement efforts.</li> <li>Ability to review technical design deliverables to ensure business objectives have been reached.</li> <li>Ability to analyze and translate business, information, and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint that outlines solutions to achieve business objectives.</li> <li>Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships.</li> </ul> </div> <div> </div> <div>Preferred Qualifications:</div> <div> </div> <div class="O0"> <ul> <li>Familiar with transportation projects and disciplines.</li> <li>Knowledge of Microsoft .NET Framework (including Visual Studio 2015, SQL Server 2016, C#, Microsoft MVC 5).</li> <li>Knowledge of Oracle Tools (Oracle 9i/10g/11g, Toad, Java 1.2/1.4, JSP/Servlets, WebLogic);</li> <li>Knowledge of emerging Open Source processes/tools, i.e. DevOps (Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, AWS [EC2, IAM, S3, ElastiCache, SE], Data Dog, Kibana, React JS, ES6, Karma, ImmutableJS, RSpec, Jasmine, FactoryGirl, Capybara, Selenium, CSS, elastic search, PostgreSQL, Vim, MacVim.</li> <li>Ability to respond appropriately to difficult situations and acknowledge the various responses.</li> </ul> </div> <div> </div> <div>About WSP USA</div> <div> </div> <div>WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
