WSP is currently initiating a search for a Southwest District Civil Manager for our Los Angeles office.
 
The Southwest District Civil Manager is a senior Technical Excellence Center (TEC) manager and will support diversification and growth, drive strategic direction, and lead the Management team for the Transportation and Infrastructure Operations, which includes multiple offices in the Southwest District. This person will work closely with the Regional Business Manager, and the Regional Operations Manager to support the strategic direction of the West Region of the Transportation & Infrastructure Sector in the U.S. Region of WSP.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the management, growth and development of the Civil Engineering operations, as well as performance of the projects they are directly involved with or responsible for
  • Provide local focus, direction and leadership within the Southwest District, partnering closely with the Area Managers, Business Development Manager, Regional Business Manager, and other supervisory staff
  • Non-TEC Manager duties may include, but are not limited to, project management and/or technical leadership
  • Create growth strategies for the district and manage the annual achievements
  • Coordinate, develop and oversee appropriate interaction with WSP resources
  • Represent the firm in the market through involvement in client and industry events and associations to promote intelligence gathering and pipeline development
  • Develop new business leads
  • Develop strategic alliances and project partners to secure new work
  • Lead strategic project pursuits
  • Participate in negotiations to secure contract awards
  • Oversee client relations for the business unit’s strategic clients
  • Responsible for managing the relationship with the client including each of the projects for that client
  • Serve as principal in charge and responsible for client audits and resolution
  • Lead and manage the project managers assigned to the clients within the district
  • Responsible for the revenue and bottom line delivery of the entire portfolio of projects within the district

Requirements

<div>Minimum Qualifications:</div> <ul> <li>A BS or BA Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field</li> <li>Professional registration in Civil Engineering (PE)</li> <li>15+ years of experience in the Transportation Industry, focusing on any of the following:</li> <ul> <li>Business and Operations Management</li> <li>Business Development</li> <li>Project Management</li> <li>Program Management</li> </ul> <li>At least 5 years of managerial experience with increasing responsibility</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to lead and grow the Civil Engineering business</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to balance solid management/leadership skills, including the ability to supervise and develop staff remotely</li> <li>Knowledge of local politics in the region</li> <li>Keen understanding of the competitive environment and regional players</li> <li>Strongly established client relationships and industry contacts</li> <li>Sound decision-making abilities, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development capabilities across a multi-disciplined practice</li> <li>Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects</li> <li>Good writing, verbal, and presentation skills</li> </ul> <div>Preferred Qualifications:</div> <ul> <li>Advanced degree(s)</li> </ul> <div><strong>About WSP USA </strong></div> <div><strong> </strong></div> <div>WSP USA (formerly WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff) is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms—WSP. Dedicated to serving local communities, we are engineers, planners, technical experts, strategic advisors and construction management professionals. WSP USA designs lasting solutions in the transportation, buildings, energy, water and environment sectors.
