WSP is currently initiating a search for a Sr. Consultant, Employee Relations HRBP for one of our offices within the US. This position could potentially work for any WSP USA offices.
The Sr. Consultant, Employee Relations HRBP will be responsible for thoroughly and expeditiously conducting highly sensitive and confidential HR related investigations in a fair, unbiased and consistent manner to determine if policy violations have occurred. The successful candidate will also be responsible for drafting and issuing reports with official findings and proposed solutions to resolve employee relations matters. The incumbent will work closely with Regional HR Business Partners, Employment Legal Counsel, Compliance and Ethics team and others on a variety of matters concerning workplace behavior. The ideal candidate for this position has strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to work successfully on a broad spectrum of employee relations issues. This position will report to the WSP USA’s EEO Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Independently manages and conducts investigations in response to complaints involving workplace behavior issues, i.e.; discrimination, harassment, retaliation etc., which may result in progressive discipline
  • Provide employee relations support in partnership with Operational Human Resource Business Partners (HRBP) and other Human Resources (HR) Centers of Excellence (CoE) to ensure proper handling of various issues (such as behavioral issues, disciplinary actions, separations, policy application and enforcement)
  • Conducts interviews, collects all relevant facts, and drafts investigative reports based on findings relating to workplace behavior promptly bringing investigations to closure
  • Logs and tracks investigations, inquiries and records of HR related claims and allegations
  • Makes progressive disciplinary recommendations based on findings
  • Facilitates investigation committee reviews to ensure stakeholders are in agreement with recommended disciplinary actions
  • Works with HR Business Partners and Business Managers to address complex existing or potential employee relations issues
  • Analyze aggregate data to identify any issue trends and opportunities to develop proactive actions to address systematic issues
  • Develop and facilitate investigation training for HR Team, Business Managers and Supervisors
  • Address issues that are escalated by the Inclusion and Diversity council or as a result of their efforts, and use own discretion to determine whether a full investigation is required
  • Lead design,inspection and testing of machinery for heavy movable structures such as movable bridges, locks, dams, and travelers.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or an appropriate specialization
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant and combined human resources, labor relations, investigative, or legal experience, and a demonstrated passion for employee relations, investigations, or employment law
  • Proficient understanding of federal and state employment and labor laws
  • Must have a broad knowledge base in conducting internal investigations through resolution, employee interviews, investigative data analysis, and production of investigative documentation
  • Strong investigatory skills with attention to accuracy and detail
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills with an interest to work in a globally diverse work environment
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interface and effectively communicate with various levels of management and build rapport and trusting relationships
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of professionalism
  • Ability to work well under stressful conditions
  • Technically proficient in : Microsoft Office Suite systems including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, the use of search engines and general computer applications
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
