WSP USA is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our growing Baton Rouge, Louisiana Structures group!  Our Structures Department is consistently challenged with a diverse portfolio of projects of various structure types.  A successful candidate will enjoy the challenges of finding innovative solutions to complex problems. Typical structure types include bridge steel plate girders, prestress concrete, cored slabs, box beams and box culvert designs.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the design of LADOTD bridge design projects;
  • Preparing and checking design calculations, plans, estimates, and specifications;
  • Provide guidance to CADD designers,
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university; master degree in Structural Engineering is a plus;
  • Minimum of 3+ years of Bridge, Structural Design, and Transportation Engineering experience in the consulting services industry;
  • Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Standard Specifications for Bridges;
  • Familiarity with the LADOTD Bridge Design Manual and plans preparation standards
  • Able to work with minimum supervision as well as part of an interdisciplinary group;
  • Ability to provide guidance to CADD technicians;
  • Able to multi-task and meet various project deadlines;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Highly motivated and enthusiastic with a strong desire for career advancement.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Engineer Intern (EI) – preferred;  Professional Engineering Registration (PE) is desirable.
