We are seeking a STRUCTURES CONSTRUCTION INSPECTORS  to work for our Construction Services Group working on Caltrans projects in District 4 to include Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Marin, San Francisco, Contra Costa, Alameda, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties. The Structures Construction Inspector provides inspection services for Caltrans facilities. Elements to be inspected or monitored may include full depth road box reconstruction, utilities, storm drainage, excavation and fills, revetments, wetlands mitigation or restoration, paving, milling or reclaimed pavement, signage, guardrails, striping, maintenance of traffic, pile driving, cofferdams, cast-in-place concrete, waterproofing, structural steel, bearings, expansion joints, precast concrete elements, maintenance or traffic and other similar activities.
This is NOT a Structural Engineer role! A Structures Construction Inspector is an agency employee (or a consultant hired by a local agency) who performs quality assurance over the contractor’s work that involves structures and who performs the contract’s necessary structure-related administrative tasks.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reviewing and inspecting plans and calculations for:  falsework; shoring; staging; bridge removal; and other technical submissions on State projects
  • Responding to and effectively resolving field construction issues
  • Conducting meetings between contractor, owner, utilities and other project parties
  • Inspecting, documenting, and coordinating field test of construction materials
  • Performs other duties as assigned
