WSP is currently initiating a search for a Substation Procurement Engineer for our Rochester, NY office.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Procurement Plan Management
  • Assist in defining and managing  project procurement plans
  • Keep procurement plans updated based on the progress, status and identification of potential delays
  • provide weekly status updates to project teams and Program Managers
  • Responsible for managing a procurement project log for all transactions.
 
Expediting & Substitution Management

  • Assist the procurement team  & work with multiple suppliers to obtain the best technical and economic proposals.
  • Follow up suppliers and internal procurement staff on the progress to target delivery dates
  • Develop strong vendor/supplier relationships with the intent of getting the best cost and timeframes
  • participate in reviewing bids, Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and coordinate the resolution of discrepancies/concern in the tender process with appropriate team members.
  • Research and review all supplier and vendor substitutions to ensure all required engineering an design specifications are maintained
  • Ensuring coordination of deliveries with warehouse and construction sites
  • Reviewing open order reports from suppliers.
  • Follow up on open/past due items with suppliers.
  • Inform internal stakeholders regarding impact from delays
Requesting/Managing quotes

  • Gathering technical/Purchase Order data from SAP to send to venders requesting quotes.  
  • Distributing quote information to Material Planners for order creation.
Invoice Resolution
  • Generating  7 managing reports regarding  past due invoices.
  • Research invoicing issues to give feedback to Material Planners on action to be performed.

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Engineering Degree (Electrical Engineering Degree preferred)
  • 1-3 years of experience in a large capital design engineering or construction firm
  • Detail Oriented
  • Self-Starter
  • Excellent Analytical Skills (collecting, analyzing and interpreting engineering specifications and data)
  • Experience working with Excel at an advanced level required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Packages required (Outlook, power point and word)
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to follow up and Prioritize
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures 
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
