Job Summary:


The Mission of this role is to direct activity and provide day-to-day leadership for the MD Service and production teams so that assigned work is executed safely, efficiently and profitably. Work in cooperation with the GSM administrators, estimators, procurement and support staff as necessary to plan and schedule projects proactively. Perform work in a way that aligns with GSM operating values including cooperation, flexibility, respect for team members & customers and always in a professional manner.


This job is Safety-Sensitive. Safety-Sensitive jobs include tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task or others.  These tasks and duties include, but are not limited to operating: material handling equipment, motorized vehicles, roofing equipment/machinery, power tools, working at height over four feet and working in confined spaces (or as prescribed by OSHA).

Tactical Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:


ü  Ensure compliance with all OSHA, customer and GSM-mandated safety requirements and procedures

ü  Assign daily work orders and communicate job execution plans to Service foreman

ü  Adjust daily foreman & work order assignments based on current information

ü  Coordinate project assignments to production foreman

ü  Make daily weather calls and communicate schedule to service & production teams and active project customers

ü  Communicate project safety expectations and monitor proper jobsite safety setup

ü  Ensure product installation to manufacturer specification and project scope

ü  Monitor foreman daily time reporting for accuracy & timeliness

ü  Monitor project material deliver & usage for alignment with estimate

ü  Monitor job performance against estimate and provide feedback based on results

ü  Conduct regular jobsite visits and provide customer communication as required

ü  Confirm customer change order requirements with estimator and communicate to foreman as necessary

ü  Track timely and accurate completion of required T&M tickets for change orders

ü  Coordinate metal fabrication, equipment needs and manpower support with MD production and Ephrata team to effectively staff projects and operate as one team

ü  Coordinate daily employee administrative activities as necessary (PTO, call-offs, etc.)

ü  Generate documented customer quotations for assigned projects utilizing Timberline estimating software

ü  Utilize Dataforma software to organize and store project-specific information, documentation and history

ü  Develop cooperative working relationship with project estimators to ensure effective project planning and maximize project effectiveness

ü  Participate in daily planning and weekly service scheduling meeting process

ü  Participate in weekly production scheduling meeting process

ü  Participate in onsite customer pre-job meetings when necessary

ü  Participate in internal pre-job meetings for selective projects when scheduled

ü  Conduct annual employee performance review & discuss new year goals

ü  Utilize GSM Training Ladder for employee development plans

ü  Work in cooperation with MD Office Manager to address employee, customer and administrative needs as necessary

ü  Position requires 24/7 availability – responsible to make accommodations when unavailable

ü  Review and provide employee documentation as necessary (discipline, recognition)



  • High school diploma or GED
  • Knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of roofing systems
  • Minimum of three years in a related work environment or equivalent training and experience
  • Computer literacy, including knowledge of various software packages
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Time management skills
  • Judgment and problem solving skills
  • Leadership experience in managing people



  • Computer, basic office equipment (copier, calculator, phone, fax, etc.)
  • Roofing tools


Working Conditions:


Approximately 50 hour core work week M-F, daily and weekend OT as required. Position follows Superintendent OT Pay Structure Guidelines (effective 4/14/19).


Both a controlled office environment and outside site visits as necessary including rooftop and use of ladder and roofing tools.
