WSP is currently initiating a search for a Supervising Environmental Engineer/Team Leader for our New York, NY office. In this role, you will provide leadership and technical support to a group of dedicated environmental professionals in a thriving and growing market sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects, supervising and mentoring junior and mid-level staff, maintaining client relationships, assisting with environmental business development, and working cooperatively and proactively with other disciplines within the company
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Support the development and execution our NY area growth strategy for the Environment Market
  • Supervise the New York City team of site investigation and remediation professionals
  • Collaborate with other Environmental team leaders in our tri-state area to grow our practice by adding new clientele and build upon current client relationships
  • Lead major proposals, manage, execute and provide technical support on a variety of environmental-related as well as interdisciplinary projects
  • Communicate with clients, establish goals and objectives for project teams, and schedule and coordinate resources to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the performance expectations of the client
  • Direct and implement field and office data collection efforts, data validation and evaluation, environmental design and field activity oversight
  • Management of technical staff responsible for executing projects, assuring they are completed safely, on budget and schedule while exceeding the client’s expectations
  • Promoting Environment capabilities by presenting and attending conferences and seminars
  • Domestic and international travel, when necessary

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in Environmental Engineering or similar field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the consulting field with experience managing and mentoring teams and large, multidisciplinary public projects in the New York Region
  • NY PE License is required
  • PG, CHMM, CIH, etc. is a plus
  • Consistent "seller/doer" with a demonstrated track record of meeting sales targets. Proven decision-making, strategic and visionary thinking, and creative business development capabilities across a multi-disciplined practice
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulatory agency laws, regulations, and permitting requirements
  • New York experience conducting and managing Environmental Site Assessments, Site Characterization, Remediation Services and Construction Support
  • Extensive experience with working for public agencies such as PANYNJ, NYC DDC, NYCDEP, NYC EDC, MTA, DOTs
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with demonstrated ability to conduct effective client presentations and written report preparation
  • Certifications desired/to be obtained: OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Training, and if applicable, OSHA 8 Hour HAZWOPER Refresher Training, NYS Department of Labor Asbestos Project Designer Certification, DOT Training, CPR and First Aid Training, and other related environmental
