WSP is currently initiating a search for a Supervising Mechanical Engineer to support our San Francisco, California office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Managing and execution of mechanical engineering and design for projects of moderate to high level of complexity
  • Conduct condition assessments of building mechanical systems
  • Produce design criteria, calculations, and construction documents for mechanical building systems including HVAC, plumbing, and limited process piping, as the lead designer or as Engineer of Record
  • Develop costs estimates for mechanical building systems
  • Provide technical support during construction activities
  • Supervise project work of mechanical engineers, technicians and CAD designers, and coordinate with collaborating disciplines
  • Support business development activity with development of proposal content and client meetings
  • Support design of, transit, aviation, and industrial facilities, as well as other transportation and infrastructure projects
  • Provide technical leadership to less experienced engineers and technicians, and contribute to the success of a collaborative team
  • Support efforts in proposal development, project scoping as well as with client relationship development
  • Represent respective projects at meetings and conferences
  • Make recommendations on project staffing, evaluate subordinates and make salary recommendations
  • Develop and mentor technical teams

If this sounds like a fit for you, we’d love to have that first discussion of you joining our team.</div> <div> </div> <div>Minimum Qualifications: <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited program</li> <li>Ten (10) years designing mechanical systems for the built environment, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, fire alarm, fueling, compressed air, building automation control, and other mechanical systems</li> <li>Detailed knowledge of mechanical engineering design and construction principles, methods, and standards</li> <li>Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work within a team environment</li> <li>Desire to be a leader, mentor, and coach</li> <li>Business development experience</li> <li>California PE registration, or ability to receive within 6 months</li> <li>Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and at least one of the following: AutoCAD, Revit 3D or MicroStation</li> </ul>  </div> <div> <div>Preferred Qualifications</div> <div> <ul> <li>Mechanical design experience for large commercial or industrial facilities, infrastructure facilities and or transportation facilities</li> <li>LEED AP Certification</li> <li>Proven ability to build and lead high performance teams</li> </ul> </div> <div> </div> </div> <div><strong>About WSP USA</strong></div> <div><strong><br /></strong></div> <div>WSP USA (formerly WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff) is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms—WSP.
