Company Overview:

Adolfson & Peterson Construction, one of the nation’s top contractors, is recruiting for an experienced Surveyor for our project in Duluth MN .

The Surveyor will make exact measurements to determine property boundaries, and provide data relevant to the shape, contour, gravitation, location, elevation and dimension of land and land features on or near the earth’s surface for engineering, land evaluation, construction, and other purposes.

Key Accountabilities of the role include:

  1. Take personal responsibility for working safely within an incident and injury free culture.
  • Be a champion to support IIF efforts for working safely and building a culture of care and concern for each team member in the workplace.
  • Consistently communicate and reinforce the tenets of an IIF workplace.
  • Ensure adherence to processes and procedures that support an IIF culture.
  • Comply with all company safety requirements and policies.
  1. Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
  • Establish horizontal and vertical control. Establish grid throughout the building and perform interior layout.
  • Determine Northings and Eastings of important features and boundaries in survey areas, using theodolites, transits, levels, and satellite-based global positioning systems (GPS).
  • Compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data to determine positions, shapes, and elevations of geomorphic and topographic features. Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures.
  • Identify inconsistencies and potential difficulties and make recommendations for mitigating measures
  1. Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of land or land features. Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of terrain.
  2. Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in various aspects of site operations
  • Engage in daily monitoring of project schedules.
  • Schedule events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
  • Assist in implementation of the safety program and monitor compliance.
  • Aid in monitoring the QC program for compliance.
  1. Create ad hoc reports.
  2. Train assistants and helpers and direct their work. Identify the educational needs of others, develop formal educational or training programs or classes; teach and instruct others.
  3. Document and record retention including entering, transcribing, recording, storing, and maintaining information in written or electronic\/magnetic form.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  1. History of progressively more responsible experience and proven results including:
    1. Associates degree in land surveying or related field and 3+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    2. Licensed Land Surveyor preferred
    3. Professional Land Surveyor Preferred
    4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, CAD, Civil 3D, Revit and Prolog.
    5. Current or ability to become current with OSHA and company requirements
  2. Ability to travel to project sites.
  3. Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
  4. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Proficient in plan & constructability review and comprehend and recognize safety standards and issues.
  5. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required. Ability to obtain a forklift certification and commercial driver’s license preferred.
  6. Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
  7. Strong analytical and logic skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of precision on detailed work.
  8. Developed skills (written, oral, and listening) in order to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
  9. Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously under time constraints.
  10. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build successful and lasting relationships.
  11. This position is a safety sensitive position and is subject to random drug testing.
