WSP is currently initiating a search for a T&D Commissioning Manager for our Rochester, NY office.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee testing and commissioning of primary electrical (high and medium voltage) and secondary electrical (protection and control) systems
  • Develop outage and energization plans, testing and commissioning plans and verify field conditions in conjunction with Client Project Manager,   Client Field Engineers, Client Field Supervisors and Client’s Contractors
  • Coordinate with Client Field Engineers and Client Project Managers in other disciplines  (e.g. Civil, Structural) and in other sectors (distribution, transmission)
  • Provide construction quality assurance and field support as required
  • Provide leadership and training in safe work practices around high-voltage equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 12+ years’ experience in commissioning and placing in service:
  • High-voltage electrical utility substations,
  • Electrical or instrumentation/control systems at generation facilities,
  • High- or medium-voltage industrial/commercial substations, and  Major equipment (transformers, circuit breakers,medium-voltage switchgear)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead crossfunctional teams including third party contractors
  • Excellent presentation skills combined with strong competancy in Microsoft Project and the Microsoft Office applications
  • Engineering Degree and PMP Certification preferred
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
