As this opportunity is a regional leadership position, we are open to the successful candidate working from one of our major Texas/Mountain offices.  Currently, they are Austin, Houston, Dallas, Tempe, Denver, Salt Lake City, or Albuquerque. This role may require travel throughout the region several times per month.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Grow and diversify the planning and environment practices with a focus on: transportation planning; transit planning; environmental planning; corridor studies; long-range, strategic and master planning; and placemaking with a focus on Texas, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah
  • Create a strategic direction and lead the planning and environment teams
  • Work closely with the National Planning and Environment Manager, Regional Business Manager, Regional Business Development Director, and local Area Managers to develop and execute the strategic direction for planning of the Texas/Mountain Region
  • Work with other Regional P&E managers in balancing workload across the regions and local Area Managers in pursuing business development opportunities
  • Participate in projects, either as a project manager, technical or subject matter expert with a reasonable level of billable utilization on major projects
  • Overseeing the management, growth and development of the P&E operations, as well as performance of the projects they are directly involved with or responsible for
  • Providing local focus, direction and leadership for WSP’s P&E practice, partnering closely with leaders in other regions and sectors
  • Hiring, leading, managing and developing the local P&E managers
  • Elevating the profile of WSP by developing a culture of technical excellence and innovation and supporting the team in
    • Participation on professional associations, boards and committees
    • Pursuing awards on behalf of our clients
    • Speaking at conferences, publishing papers, and gaining professional certifications and accreditation
  • Providing administrative and financial oversight of the Texas/Mountain Planning & Environment practice
Business Management, Development and Client Relationship Management :

  • Working with local Area Managers to identify, develop and pursue new opportunities
  • Creating growth strategies for the region and manage the annual achievements
  • Coordinating, developing and overseeing appropriate interaction with internal WSP partners
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the Northwest P&E team, including revenue and bottom line delivery of the region’s portfolio of planning and environmental projects
  • Recruiting and developing talent for the various teams in the area
  • Motivating the team to achieve success in both sales and project delivery
  • Overseeing the delivery of high-quality products and deliverables
  • Managing and deploying resources to successfully pursue specific projects and strategic opportunities
  • Overseeing employee development program, including performance planning and evaluation, training, and succession planning
  • Improving the diversity of our team to better reflect the clients and communities that we serve
  • Representing the firm in the market through involvement in client and industry events and associations to promote intelligence gathering and pipeline development
  • Responsible for managing major projects, developing and managing key client relationships, gathering and disseminating market/pursuit intelligence, building pipeline across all transportation market sectors and maintaining a strong brand image within the industry
  • Leading strategic project pursuits
  • Seek out opportunities to grow the business through cross-sectoral collaboration with Transportation & Infrastructure, Power & Energy, Buildings, and Water & Environment
  • Participating in negotiations to secure contract awards
  • Serving as principle-in-charge on projects, ensuring projects and deliverables are meeting or exceeding client expectations
  • Instilling a culture and systems to ensure excellent product deliverables
  • Conducting client audits and ensuring resolution of project issues
