WSP is currently initiating a search for a TMC Operator III for our Ankeny, Iowa office. 
 
TMC Operator III – expected to have a strong familiarity with the roadways and the location and purpose of all ITS elements; independently operate the TMC’s ATMS; aid in TIM; receive and coordinate department response on roadway concerns; dispatches maintenance crews for roadway deficiencies and snow/ice operations; and keep records on incidents, roadway concerns and call logs. A TMC Operator III shall, under the supervision of shift supervisors, operate the TMC’s ATMS; aid in TIM; receive and coordinate department response on roadway concerns; dispatches Highway Helper Operators and maintenance crews for roadway deficiencies and snow/ice operations; and keep records on incidents, roadway concerns and call logs. Addtionally TMC Operator III staff is expected to be well-versed in TMC policy and guidance.
 
TMC Operator III’s are the acting supervisor on duty in the absence of a shift supervisor and will oversee the operations floor, directing TMC Operator I & II’s and are expected to take a leadership role (Shift Supervisor Trainee) over operations staff and activities. They provide real-time QA/QC for all operational steps and ensure that policy and procedures are followed and that staff actions are in conformance with expectations. TMC Operator III’s are expected to have all the skills and capabilities of an Operator II and will assist operators during busy times. They are the first resource to the TMC Operator I & II’s and should be knowledgeable on all aspects of TMC operations.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the status of the Iowa DOT transportation network statewide and provide detailed written and verbal reports to the appropriate departmental personnel and partners.
  • Process and consolidate information received from multiple sources into clearly written situation reports.Facilitate coordination between other government agencies and municipal partners during incidents and emergency activations.
  • Compose, record and post information to the department’s ATIS system.
  • Ensure the TMC’s readiness as a coordination center during emergencies.

  • Dispatch Highway Helper and perform agency coordination.

Requirements

<div>Minimum Qualifications:</div> <ul> <li>Must have TMC Operator experience or equivent experience</li> <li>High School Diploma or GED</li> <li>Ability to read, write and understand English</li> <li>Ability to multi-task and remain calm during high pressure situations</li> <li>Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and written</li> <li>Ability to work alone with minimal supervision</li> <li>Ability to professionally interact with all levels of management</li> <li>Must have an aptitude for providing excellent customer service</li> <li>Proficiency with multiple computer systems, including but not limited to; Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, and various GIS and web-based information systems</li> <li>Willingness to respond during weather emergencies and ability to work overtime when the need arises.</li> <li>Pass a Drug Screening plus Iowa DOT Driver License and Crimial Background Check</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div> </div> <div>Preferred Qualifications</div> <ul> <li>Some College education</li> <li>Some Supervisor experience is a plus</li> </ul> <div> </div> <div>About WSP USA</div> <div> </div> <div>WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
