WSP is currently initiating a search for a Track Work Inspector for our Baltimore, MD office.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • On-site supervision of contractor work crews to verify and ensure compliance with contract documents.
  • Directly responsible for reporting on-site activities and daily progress to the Resident Engineer (RE) via standardized reporting.
  • Responsible to successfully acquire and maintain current materials testing certifications (ACI, Soil &Aggregates, Hot Mix Asphalt, etc.)
  • Direct supervision of contractor work crews to verify and ensure that good & safe construction practices are being employed to produce quality results.
  • Responsible for calculation and determination of pay quantities, to be able to witness, understand, and verify all required on-site testing is being performed in accordance with applicable standards.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma
  • 3 years’ experience of full-time employment in transit & highway construction activities; 3 years of which must have been spent performing duties related to the construction, maintenance, and/or inspection of track and associated structures.
  • Physically able to perform the duties required of the position. (Bend, walk, crawl, kneel, light lifting, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills; strong mathematic skills including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry; Strong computer skills, including familiarity with the advanced functions of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain a motor vehicle in good working order, willing to travel throughout the State of Maryland as required.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from a nationally accredited college or university in any of the following areas of study: Construction Management, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, Environmental, or Systems disciplines), Business Management, Logistics, Information Technology, or similar course of study.
  • N.I.C.E.T Level 3 or higher certification in the areas of Construction Materials Testing, Geotechnical, Erosion and Sediment Control, Water and Sewer Lines, Stormwater and Wastewater System Inspection, Electrical Power, or Fire Protection.
  • 3 years installation experience installing plumbing, HVAC, fire systems, elevators/escalators, and/or underground utilities.
