Traffic Engineering Intern - 2021

WSP is currently seeking an exceptional candidate for an INTERNSHIP for our Austin, TX office for the Summer of 2021.
This opportunity is available for a college student in good standing working towards a DEGREE in CIVIL ENGINEERING within an accredited program. The candidate will gain experience in PROJECTS under direct supervision of the firm's leading ENGINEERING professionals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform CAD related duties under the direction of a Traffic Engineer
- Perform calculations related to traffic quantities and project cost estimates
- Responsible for referencing required manuals to perform duties
- Perform traffic analysis under the direction of a traffic Engineer
- Plan Sheet Preparation and compilation
- General traffic engineering efforts
Requirements
Experience Qualifications:
- CURRENT standing as a Freshmen/ Sophomore (T5 Intern I) or Junior/ Senior (T6 Intern II) student actively enrolled in an accredited Engineering (or related) Undergraduate or Graduate Program.
- CAD knowledge; MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
- Traffic Operations knowledge; HCS, Synchro and/or VISSIM
- Microsoft Office Experience
- The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Local candidates preferred. Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.
- Internship experience related to civil/traffic engineering
- Coursework relevant to Traffic Engineering
- Familiarity with applicable design standards; HCM, MUTCD and AASHTO Green Book
