Transportation Engineering Manager

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Transportation Engineering Manager for our Portland, Oregon office. The candidate will lead a civil engineering team, assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies, lead delivery of highway and multi-modal transportation improvements, and coordinate workshare with offices across the West Coast.
Duties and Responsibilities:

People & Performance Leadership
  • Responsible for the management, growth and development of the Portland Office Civil Engineering team
  • Provide leadership within the Portland office, partnering closely with the Local Business Leader and Senior Management Team
  • Focus on meeting Key Performance Indicators and contribute to the overall success of the Pacific Northwest District and West Region
Business Development
  • Engage with clients to develop new business leads and project pursuits
  • Develop strategic alliances and project partners to secure new work
  • Lead key pursuits
  • Represent the firm in the market through involvement in client and industry events and associations
Project/Program Management
  • Lead key projects as Project Manager, Principal in Charge, or other roles as appropriate
  • Participate in contract negotiations
  • Guide staff and assist in project management responsibilities, including oversight of project financial performance, adherence to project management and quality control plans, and adequacy of risk management plans
  • Provide leadership and oversight to ensure quality project deliverables, including PS&E documents, engineering reports, project memorandums, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience in the transportation industry, focusing on Business Development, Project Delivery, Program/Project Management and/or Alternative Delivery
  • Five (5) years of managerial experience with increasing responsibility
  • Ability to lead and grow the civil engineering business
  • Strong management/leadership skills
  • Strongly established client relationships and industry contacts
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master of Science in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program
  • Experience working with ODOT, TriMet, WSDOT, PBOT, Washington County and other local agencies
