WSP is currently initiating a search for a Part-time Transportation Management Center (TMC) System Operator I for our client’s Latham, NY office
The TMC System Operator I shall have a detailed familiarity with the Region’s roadways, understand communications protocols and be knowledgeable on the location and purpose of all ITS elements and shall be capable of independently following procedures and direction.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will:
  • Operate the TMC’s advance traffic management system (ATMS)
  • Aid in Traffic Incident Management (TIM);
  • Coordinate Department response on roadway issues;
  • Dispatch maintenance crews for snow and ice operations; and
  • Keep records of incidents, roadway issues, and call logs.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or higher; OR Two years of full-time employment meeting the qualifying experience.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Candidates for this position should be proficient in the following areas:
  • Oral and written communication, and
  • Computer/software - including MS Office applications and spreadsheets, and
  • Capable of working well with co-workers and NYSDOT staff, and
  • Knowledgeable in using roadway maps, knowledge of roadway elements - specifically local
  • roadways, and 
  • Ability to perform with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
It is preferred, but not required, that candidates for this position also be proficient in the
following areas:
  • Strong organization skills
  • Ability to cope with stress
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to train others
  • Ability to perform in a cooperative team environment
  • Operations dispatching with at least one of the following groups/agencies: Transportation, Fire, Police, EMS, 911, or similar experience in the Military.
