WSP is currently initiating a search for a Transportation Planner for our Denver, Colorado office.

Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Under limited supervision, responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: 
  • Provide planning support for large and small scale projects or project teams
  • Manage small task assignments, and assist with project management responsibilities
  • As part of project team, develop planning studies to include feasibility studies, master plans, and assessments
  • Participate in new business pursuits, including business development, proposal writing and interview preparation
  • Conduct preliminary project-level needs assessments
  • Collect, analyze, input, and interpret data
  • Stay abreast of policies, procedures and legislation
  • Develop statistical or baseline description performance measures
  • Research economic, demographic, fiscal, legal and/or technical variables for specific projects
  • Collaborate with and help to grow the planning and environmental practices
  • Provide planning support for the design of major infrastructure projects
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned

Requirements

<div>Minimum Qualifications:</div> <ul> <li>A minimum of five years’ experience; advanced degrees may substitute for one or more year of experience </li> <li>Experience preparing technical reports, and/or NEPA documents</li> <li>Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills</li> <li>Knowledge of planning and urban design principles and practices</li> <li>Knowledge of principles and practices of research and data collection</li> <li>Organizational and problem-solving skills</li> <li>Detail-oriented with careful attention to accuracy and deadlines</li> <li>Ability to work proactively and independently</li> <li>Strong communication and people skills</li> <li>Ability to work collaboratively on a team</li> <li>Graphic design skills, with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Sketch-up a plus</li> <li>Some experience or understanding of ArcGIS</li> <li>Understanding of basic principles of travel demand modeling</li> <li>Good organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities and attention to detail</li> <li>Ability to travel out of the immediate area and to work outside of regular work hours if needed</li> <li>Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
