Job Duties
The Right of Way and Utilities Division is seeking to fill a vacant Utilities Relocation Coordinator position. This position will evaluate, coordinate and arrange for the relocation and adjustment of utilities in conjunction with highway construction or maintenance projects to ensure that such adjustments are properly performed in accordance with State and Federal requirements and are in accordance with project schedules. The selected candidate will provide utility companies and municipalities with plans, plan revisions and other pertinent information that will culminate in the expedient relocation of the utilities facilities. This position must coordinate with utility design engineer to ensure relocation meet the project requirements.
This position is located in Richmond, Virginia and supports the Southeast Region of the Right of Way and Utilities Division. This area includes locations within the Richmond District and various locations in the Hampton Roads District. Some travel is required with this position.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires knowledge of highway plans, specifications and standards, construction procedures, sequencing laws and policy and procedures and environmental regulations. Knowledge of the various utility facility methods and requirements and construction techniques and skill in fiscal and survey requirements used in utility relocations are both required. The selected candidate will have skill in the use of computers and web based applications to include computer drafting. The ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal and external customers and the ability to make independent decisions, solve problems, organize and prioritize is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelorâs Degree is preferred; equivalent experience or training may substitute for degree.

Positions physically working within Central Office locations may be designated upon request and coordination among the respective District Engineer or Administrator and Chief. Assignments are updated annually. Not all designated employees are provided an emergency operations assignment.
