CBRE Build is an industry-leading product innovation group in CBRE, Earths biggest commercial real estate company. We are a group with diverse backgrounds and skills: engineers, designers, managers, researchers, and data scientists, inventing the future of an enormous industry with a long, rich past. Weve developed an inclusive, trusting, collaborative approach to problem solving, and we apply it to the chewy problems of an industry thats just beginning to explore technology.

Were excited to offer a design internship program in summer 2020, located in the heart of downtown Seattle!

During your design internship, youll dive into technologys growing role within commercial real estate, learning more about the products we build here and their impact on our users. You will work closely with our diverse team of UX Designers and Researchers, working hands-on using a user-centered approach to making products and applying it to define, prototype, validate, and ultimately build products with our team.

Along with day-to-day mentorship from our designers and researchers, youll work alongside experienced product managers, software engineers, and commercial real estate professionals to define the strategy of our products and create innovative experiences for our users. Your work will have visibility, and your decisions will make an impact.

What youll be doing this summer

Working with designers and product managers to define, design, test and launch a products for our team

Conducting user research with our UX research team to discover more about your users, and validate your design decisions

Working with engineers and other internal stakeholders to design and build technology products

Coordinating across multiple disciplines at CBRE Build to ensure product features launch successfully, on time, and with high quality

About you

You have a passion for UX and design: youre deeply interested in the intersection of technology and design, with a knack for user empathy and a great sense for innovation, finding inspiration everywhere

Youre pursuing a field aligned with product design: you are probably a current Bachelors candidate in a design or product-related major, graduating in 2020 or 2021

Youre a quick learner and avid problem solver: youre intellectually curious, with a voracious appetite for learning about new topics, processes, or technologies, and dig deep into problems to find viable solutions

You put collaboration first: you enjoy helping people around you do their best work, by enabling them with everything they need to succeed

You have excellent communication skills: youre comfortable explaining design topics to non-designers, as much as youre comfortable talking about user feedback and affordances to software engineers

Why CBRE Build?

As a lean technology team in a massive Fortune 500 company, CBRE Build gives you the best of both worlds: an opportunity to learn and grow with talented, experienced technologists in a fast-paced environment, while tapping into the resources of a multi-billion dollar global leader in our space. The work you do here has the potential to change the face of the commercial real estate industry.

Our design team is made up of many disciplines with diverse backgrounds, eager to teach the next generation of designers what we know about User Research, Human Factors, Visual Design, Data Science, and Interaction Design. Youll have the freedom to pursue your interests and take on projects that align with what you want to learn over the summer.

We also really like our office culture. Some things were proud of:

A friendly, inclusive, collaborative, and transparent work environment, where you can do your best work alongside some of the brightest, hardest-working, and friendliest people in the industry

Free food throughout the week, including healthy (and less-than-healthy) snacks, lots and lots of coffee, and a weekly happy hour/team event with fun themes and food

A serious commitment to diversity and inclusion, focusing on creating a work culture that is diverse, welcoming, and accommodating to all

A thriving social atmosphere, with weekly presentations and working groups about anything from machine learning to emerging technologies, access to all the shopping and dining that downtown Seattle has to offer, and many opportunities to join others for outdoor events in the surrounding natural beauty that is the Pacific Northwest
