Mission: 

The Vice President of Finance optimizes the financial performance and technological edge of the company through the implementation of finance best practices, best-in-class financial reporting, innovative technological development and usage, and keen business acumen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the vision and leadership of the Finance and Technology teams for A-C Electric Company.
  • Own the financial strategy along with its supporting systems and processes for A-C Electric Company, ensuring accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting, forecasts, budgets, and scalability.
  • Owns the technology strategy of the company, allowing the company to maintain consistent, predictable technological platforms and driving technological innovation and effectiveness.
  • Partner with Construction Operations to understand drivers of performance through better practices, a deep understanding of “the numbers” and collaboration/coaching of those teams.

Requirements

Requirements & Skills:

  • Leadership and Motivational ability
  • Accounting or Finance Degree with advanced accounting experience and expertise, MBA preferred
  • Experience Required:
    1. Progressive financial leadership roles
    2. Technical accounting experience, forecasting, FP&A a must
    3. Technological effectiveness: comfortable in ERP’s, in programs such as Monday, MS365, Virtual meeting platforms, etc.
    4. Previous Controllership helpful, but not required
    5. Previous experience leading IT team helpful, but not required
  • Preferred, but not required:
    1. Human Resources Administration
    2. Risk Control
    3. Bank and Surety
    4. Integration of Financial Systems and Processes using Technology
    5. Previous Construction Experience
  • Advanced in Excel
  • Customer Service Focused

Additional Job Duties:

  • Lead and oversee all financial reporting, with special focus on project accounting and transparency such that non-financial managers understand “the numbers.”
  • Lead and oversee the Technology team, driving for technological innovation and effectiveness.
  • Develop and lead tax strategy, working with the Controller to ensure compliance and maximizing company cash flow.
  • Understand and direct technological advancement for automations where such improve day-to-day operations.
  • Manage technological risk and ensure stability and durability of technological systems, including security systems.
  • Lead insurance renewal process, working closely with Operations and Safety to anticipate and achieve optimal coverage for growing company needs at the lowest overall total cost.
  • Lead each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Analyze and implement workflow process improvements where needed to achieve scalability and efficiency.
  • Leads banking and surety relationships, representing A-C’s needs effectively to external stakeholders by anticipating needs and developing strategies to achieve the requirements.
  • Supervises the Operational Accounting organization to ensure internal/external audits are completed successfully and timely.
  • Understands and leverages technology to make processes more efficient and seeks the implementation of such with thorough recommendations for improvements where such are needed.
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information, ultimately getting monthly close to full completion no later than the 20th of the month.
  • Cash forecasting and cash/financial modeling for short-term and long-term with “what-if” capabilities.
  • Works closely with the COO and Business Unit Leadership on budget and forecasting activities.
  • As a member of the Leadership Team, work collaboratively to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Advises staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
  • Responds to inquiries from other managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.
  • Work with the Managers and the Controller to ensure a timely year-end audit with no adjustments.
  • Participate in Mergers & Acquisitions and changes in corporate structure as required.
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.

Organizational Structure:

The Vice President of Finance reports to and is supported by the Chief Financial Officer.  The Vice President of Finance leads the departments of finance, accounting, payroll, I.T., and DevOps (application support and development).
