The Pipefitter supports client needs by performing manual labor in support of projects.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Lays out and installs piping systems, including hangers and supports, metallic and nonmetallic piping materials and joining methods, and valves and piping accessories.
  2. Blueprint reading, interpretation, and drawings specific to the piping trade. Produce diagrams, process and instrumentation drawings, and isometric view drawings.
  3. Certified welding including; GTAW, SMAW, and MIG
  4. Cuts workpiece, using powered saws, pneumatic orbital cutters, cutting torch, plasma cutters, and manual cutting.
  5. Installs or repairs equipment, such as pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings.
  6. Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
  7. Oversee the repair and replacement of damaged or worn out pipe components.
  8. Use hand or power tools to drill holes in structures such as wall, decks to allow for pipe passage.
  9. Select pipe types, sizes and quantity required for a pipefitting project.
  10. Install and configure automatic pipe control systems.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge or Skills

  1. Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh weather conditions, diversified personalities. Ability to communicate effectively with fellow workers.
  2. Ability to clearly speak, write, read and understand the English language.
  3. Knowledge of and ability to follow Bristol client safety programs and regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines as they relate to this position and the work duties being performed.
  4. Ability to plan and organize workload.
  5. Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and competing demands simultaneously.
  6. Ability to establish and maintain a rapport and strong working relationship with co-workers and client representatives.
  7. Ability to relate to and work with personnel in all levels of an organization required.
  8. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  9. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
  10. Position may involve working with potentially hazardous materials and wastes.
  11. Hard-toe safety footwear is required at all times while working.
  12. 5 years of verifiable experience doing ASME 31.3.



High school diploma or equivalent.

Special Requirements/Certifications

Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.
