The Western Regional Safety Director ( Renewables )  is responsible for the administration of multiple project safety programs within a designated region to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Responsibilities include the roll-out and implementation of Corporate Safety Programs. This is a traveling position and you'll have oversight of our Renewables project work. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Supervise and provide guidance and development of EH&S staff
2. Audit jobsite safety reports, and implementation of safety elements at the jobsite
3. Conduct and follow up on accident/incident investigations, ensure appropriate corrective actions identified
4. Evaluate EH&S abilities to identify, and solve safety issues on the jobsite
5. Identify, document and recommend resolution of hazardous/potential hazardous conditions; follow through to insure corrections have been made
6. Compile data, photographs, etc.; prepare all pertinent forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, local regulations associated with accidents
7. Conduct various industrial hygiene samplings, such as gas, 02, noise test to insure safe working conditions
8. Issue various entry permits (i.e. to confine spaces) as required
9. Assist in conducting employee/craft and insurance inspectors on walk through tours. May accompany federal, state and insurance inspectors on walk through tours
10. Assist in emergency rescues as required. Assist in maintaining fire protection and grounding systems
11. The duties and responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing and other duties will be assigned based on the positions role within the business unit.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Occupational Safety & Health or related field required

• OSHA 500 Construction Certification

• Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification and CSP preferred.

• 10+ years safety construction experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Ability to recognize hazardous situations & recommend corrective measures is essential

• Thorough understanding of all federal, state and local regulations

• Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, record-keeping and follow-up skills

• Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player

• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary

• Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude

• Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position

• Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others

• 40-80%

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• General work environment – sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending. Work is conducted in both indoor office settings, and outdoor constructions jobsite settings. Environmental conditions will vary

• Noise level varies based on location

• Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
