D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Application Specialist I. The right candidate will be responsible for supporting internal and external customers on a variety of new and existing application solutions.


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Primary responsibility will be supporting internal and external users with system and process questions in a variety of software products predominately through email, chat or phone

  • Responsible for learning, communicating and understanding the various business processes utilized by Sales, Construction Management, Operations, Purchasing, Accounting and vendor partners within a new home construction environment

  • Learn to troubleshoot software and develop test cases within the software set to validate and confirm issues reported by end users

  • Identify and communicate issues and trends to other teams as needed, with the ability to identify the overall business impact in the communication and the urgency that should be placed on a resolution

  • Aid in implementation and post-implementation support of new applications

  • Participate in communication and logging of software defects/enhancements to design and development teams

  • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) testing based on issues reported by end users

  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company

  • Ability to work periodically after hours and on weekends

  • Increase knowledge and experience to become a subject matter expert for new software programs supporting Sales, Construction Management, Operations, Purchasing, Accounting, and external vendor partners

  • Participate in user requirement definition and analysis

  • Ability to work overtime

  • Ability to travel overnight

 

Qualifications

 

Education and/or Experience



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • Ability to learn new applications and business processes in a rapidly changing environment

  • Experience working independently and in a collaborative environment is essential

  • Must have experience providing customer service to both technical and non-technical end users

  • Excellent grammar, spelling, reading, writing and proof-reading skills required

  • Possess analytical skills and with excellent communication skills will seek to provide quality customer service while solving problems

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point) and email

  • Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision


 


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Construction, MIS, or Project Management from a four-year college or university a plus

  • Working knowledge of JD Edwards or similar accounting system and related integration software systems preferred

  • Experience with Homebuilder Sales or Scheduling software, or a strong background in home building concepts is a plus

  • Prior consulting experience a plus
