D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Assistant Environmental Manager for their Corporate Legal Department.  The right candidate will manage and direct environmental due diligence assessments performed by outside consultants and provide guidance to company personnel regarding environmental matters. In addition, this candidate will assist in the resolution of issues associated with real estate transactions, company assets, and other matters.


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


·       Manage approved, external environmental consultants in connection with environmental due diligence assessments, with coordination and involvement of Corporate and Region Environmental Departments and Corporate counsel


·       Review and evaluate environmental and technical reports prepared during company due diligence activities, identify potential issues and assist in the resolution of issues associated with real estate transactions, company assets, and other matters


·       Provide guidance to company personnel regarding environmental compliance


·       Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company


·       Manage corrective actions with federal, state, and local agencies as needed


·       Ability to travel overnight


·       Regular and reliable attendance


·       Additional duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

 

Education and/or Experience   



·       Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


·       Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Geology, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or a similar field from a four-year college or university


·       Four to ten years of related experience


·       Maintain current knowledge of the ASTM Standards for Environmental Site Assessments


·       Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license


·       Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently to balance competing deadlines


·       Possess strong verbal and written communication skills


·       Ability to work well within a team


·       Proficiency with MS Office and email
