Area Superintendent - Data Center Construction

About the Opportunity

PPG Staffing is partnering with one of the nation's top-ranked general contractors on a major data center expansion and upgrade project in Chandler, Arizona. This is an immediate need for an experienced Area Superintendent to join a high-profile mission-critical construction team on a long-term assignment expected to last more than a year.

This position will support the upgrade and expansion of an existing operational data center facility and requires a hands-on field leader capable of overseeing multiple trades and complex construction activities in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of all construction disciplines, with particular strength in electrical systems and mission-critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day field leadership for assigned areas of the project.

• Coordinate and supervise all construction activities across multiple trades and subcontractors.

• Oversee field operations involving 150+ craft personnel and subcontractors working simultaneously across multiple scopes.

• Lead schedule execution, work sequencing, site logistics, and trade coordination efforts.

• Maintain strict adherence to project safety requirements, quality standards, and project specifications.

• Coordinate closely with Project Managers, General Superintendents, Field Engineers, and fellow Superintendents to ensure successful project delivery.

• Identify and resolve field issues, constructability challenges, and schedule conflicts before they impact production.

• Manage manpower planning, material delivery coordination, equipment utilization, and productivity tracking.

• Conduct daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and subcontractor coordination meetings.

• Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, and project documents to ensure field execution aligns with project requirements.

• Maintain accountability for schedule performance, quality workmanship, and safety compliance within assigned project areas.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of Superintendent or Area Superintendent experience on large commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or advanced technology construction projects.

• Experience working for a large General Contractor overseeing multiple subcontractors and trades.

• Strong understanding of all construction scopes including electrical, mechanical, structural, civil, architectural, and specialty systems.

• Demonstrated ability to lead large field teams and coordinate complex construction activities.

• Experience managing projects with large craft populations and multiple concurrent work fronts.

• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.

• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Data Center construction experience strongly preferred.

• Experience with mission-critical facilities, semiconductor manufacturing facilities, clean rooms, pharmaceutical facilities, advanced manufacturing, power generation, or other highly technical industrial construction projects.

• Strong electrical background, including experience with power distribution systems, switchgear, substations, generators, UPS systems, critical infrastructure, or large-scale electrical installations.

• Experience working in active operating facilities, renovation projects, or facility upgrades while maintaining ongoing operations.

• Previous experience overseeing 150+ craft workers and coordinating large subcontractor teams.
