Job Description

As the corporate safety director, you will provide strategic oversight and lead all company safety-related activities, programs, initiatives, and functions. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety policies and procedures, and leading all safety-related committees. The right candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Safety and Health, combined with at least ten years of experience leading and managing safety teams on buildings and water/wastewater construction projects. An extensive understanding of all federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes and rules and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Standards, and designations including Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA 30-Hour, OSHA 500 Instructor Certification, First Aid and CPR Certifications, and Safety Train-the-Trainer Certification are required. Strong communication and leadership skills are necessary to fully maintain a companywide safety culture.


Frequent travel is required to jobsites along the east coast – from Maine to Florida.  


Key Responsibilities:



  • Act as a leader, influencing and motivating, while modeling the highest standards of Environmental Health and Safety.

  • Drive cultural change and continuous improvement through the development and execution of a comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety program across all markets.

  • Lead, manage, mentor and coach the safety team and create an inclusive environment. 

  • Develop working relationships with state and federal OSHA agencies to promote PC safety programs and manage regulatory exposures and OSHA citations.

  • Ensure PC's Environmental Health and Safety policies are in compliance with OSHA, Environmental Protection Agency and other regulatory agencies.

  • Continuously assess safety knowledge and training across all jobsites; recommend training to close gaps and ensure skills are aligned with position requirements, conduct training on applicable safety standards.

  • Provide appropriate safety and health, accident prevention and investigation training for managers and supervisors.

  • Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage.

  • Review accident and incident reports for accuracy and analyze trends, metrics, and incident data to drive program improvement.

  • Ensure PC's safety policies and procedures are applied consistently across all projects.

  • Lead all incident investigations and reviews and recommend appropriate training/disciplinary actions to prevent repeat incidents.

  • Create strategic safety initiatives and present to executive leadership.

  • Evaluate the status of supervisory employees' completion of required training. Conduct training or arrange outside training resources as appropriate.

  • Develop safety training materials/courses.

  • Work directly with regional safety teams, project teams, the Corporate Safety Committee, and core departments to increase safety awareness and knowledge.

  • Develop and execute annual work plans based on the company's Strategic Plan.

  • Assist with the development of relevant policies and procedures.

  • Share best practices between project teams and companywide.
