D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Division Vice President of Land Development. The right candidate will work closely with the Division President to develop raw land and deliver lots for building communities to meet the established goals in the division’s business plan. Oversees the installation of infrastructure for a community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Performs the obligations and signature duties required by the elected office stated in the Corporate Authority resolutions
- Negotiate land development contracts
- Lead teams in all aspects of subdivision development including design, planning, engineering, entitlements and development
- Collaborate with the Land Development team to complete cost estimates, lot densities, development schedules and identify risk during due diligence for the submittal package for corporate approval
- Ensure new communities are opened on time and within budget by collaborating directly with other departments in the division
- Solicit, analyze and meet with contractors for bids on all new development projects
- Oversee the activities of land planners, engineers, consultants, governmental officials and trade partners in the execution of land development tasks on time and at budget
- Develop, monitor and adhere to the division’s land development schedule and budget for each project and provide regular updates to the Division President
- Create budgets for the construction of entrances, lots, amenities and associated infrastructure for D.R. Horton communities; including road, drainage, water, sewer and landscaping
- Review preliminary plats and revisions for final plat recordation
- Oversee and finalize process to obtain final As-Built submittals and approvals
- Performs final walks with local jurisdictions for street, water/sewer acceptance and bond release
- Work with dry utility companies to ensure that utilities are scheduled and monitor through installation
- Communicate and coordinate with municipalities from project due-diligence to Final Acceptance
- Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
- Provide leadership to the Land Development team including overall people management, talent identification and recruiting, and employee development
- Monitor budgets on each phase of development, and continually review all accounting relative to land development including cash flow projections
- Assume the primary responsibility for Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program (SWPPP)
- Develop a network of industry, government staff and political contacts to maintain a current awareness of available and upcoming acquisition opportunities
- Develop a positive, teamwork and achievement-oriented culture with staff, consultants, and general contractors.
