D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Jr. Credit Underwriter. The right candidate will be responsible for the underwriting of conventional loans.


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Participate in training program designed to learn all facets of conventional underwriting

  • Underwrite and make credit decisions on loans received daily that have been assigned by the Underwriting Manager

  • Be proficient in conventional guidelines and corresponding investors

  • Prioritize RUSH’s and newly submitted loans to meet the required turn-around time

  • Perform loan decisioning functions in the Loan Origination System (Encompass)

  • Prior to declining a loan, submit it to the Underwriting Manager for an in-depth second review.  If Underwriting Manager concurs with decision to decline, notify the branch 

  • Maintain frequent contact with the Processors, Loan Officer Assistants, Mortgage Loan Originators and Branch Managers

  • Review conventional appraisals when applicable

  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company

  • Ability to work overtime

 

Qualifications

 

Education and/or Experience



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • One to two years of experience in the mortgage industry

  • Ability to effectively communicate using strong written and verbal skills

  • Ability to multitask and provide attention to detail

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications

  • Proficiency with MS Office and email

  • Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision

  • The noise level is generally moderate


 


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university a plus
