Road Construction Superintendent - Job Description

The Well Done New Mexico LLC Road Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of temporary road construction, maintenance, and related infrastructure projects for accessing remote orphan well locations in the Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge in Okmulgee, OK. This is a "hands-on" and in the field role that ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget, while meeting engineering standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision & Coordination: Direct, train, and evaluate crews, subcontractors, and staff; coordinate with engineers, contractors, and local authorities.
  • Project Management: Develop and manage project timelines, budgets, and schedules; ensure compliance with blueprints, specifications, and engineering standards.
  • Safety Management: Implement and enforce strict health and safety protocols; conduct safety inspections and training; maintain a safe working environment.
  • Quality Control: Perform regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality; ensure work meets design and safety standards.
  • Resource Management: Oversee procurement, delivery, and use of materials, equipment, and supplies; maintain and inspect equipment.
  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain daily logs, progress reports, budgets, and incident reports.
  • Communication: Liaise with stakeholders, resolve issues, and communicate project updates to the public and management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: 5+ years in road maintenance/construction, with supervisory experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is a plus, but not required.
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of road construction methods, materials, equipment operation, OSHA safety standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, communication (oral/written), and organizational abilities.
  • Certifications: Valid driver's license; OSHA 10 certification (OSHA 30 preferred).
  • Tools: Proficiency with project management software and budgeting tools.
  • Equipment Operation: Proficiency in equipment operations is a must.

Work Environment

  • Full-time, year-round, often on-site in various weather conditions.
  • May require travel to multiple project locations.
  • Physical demands include operating heavy equipment, performing manual labor, and working in challenging conditions.

Compensation

This is a full-time salaried position and compensation will be set depending upon experience and demonstrated acumen. The successful candidate will be provided with a company vehicle.

Work Schedule

This position typically works Monday through Friday with weekends and federal Holidays off.
