Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead the preparation of accurate, competitive, and timely cost estimates for construction projects. The ideal candidate has a strong background in estimating, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, clients, subcontractors, and vendors. This role plays a key part in securing profitable projects and supporting successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed conceptual, budgetary, and hard-bid estimates. 
  • Review plans, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope. 
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, equipment, and material pricing. 
  • Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier quotations. 
  • Identify project risks, value engineering opportunities, and cost-saving alternatives. 
  • Lead bid reviews and present estimate summaries to leadership. 
  • Coordinate with project management, operations, and business development teams throughout the bidding process. 
  • Develop bid schedules and ensure deadlines are met. 
  • Maintain historical cost databases and estimating standards. 
  • Mentor junior estimators and assist in developing estimating best practices. 
  • Participate in client meetings, pre-bid conferences, and project handoffs. 

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of construction estimating experience. 
  • Proven experience estimating projects ranging from $1 million to $50+ million (adjust as appropriate). 
  • Strong knowledge of commercial, industrial, civil, or heavy construction (customize for your market)High End Custom Homes. 
  • Proficiency with estimating software such as HCSS Heavy Bid, Sage Estimating, Bluebeam, Plan Swift, OST, Job Tread, or similar.
  • Excellent understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and project management.  
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. 
  • Ability to interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. 
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or equivalent. 
  • Experience with design-build and negotiated projects.
