Senior Estimator

The Collage Companies is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our team in Lake Mary, Florida. This full-time, in-office role is responsible for leading estimating efforts across a diverse portfolio of commercial construction projects, including negotiated work and competitive hard-bid pursuits.

Position Summary

The Senior Estimator is a key member of our preconstruction team, responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and well-supported cost estimates from early conceptual design through final proposal. This role partners closely with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams to deliver clear pricing, identify risks and opportunities, and support successful project pursuits.

Projects span commercial, municipal, transportation, aviation, parks, hospitality, and community facilities, typically ranging from $1M to $75M in construction value.

The ideal candidate brings deep commercial estimating experience with a general contractor, strong market knowledge, and the ability to confidently lead both negotiated and hard-bid work in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead estimating efforts for negotiated and hard-bid commercial construction projects.
• Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and GMP estimates.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and develop comprehensive cost estimates.
• Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify scope gaps, risks, and opportunities.
• Solicit, analyze, and level subcontractor and supplier bids.
• Develop accurate pricing using historical data, market conditions, labor trends, and material costs.
• Support value engineering and constructability reviews with design teams and clients.
• Assist in developing project logistics, phasing, and preliminary schedules during preconstruction.
• Participate in client interviews, presentations, and proposal development.
• Collaborate with Business Development, Operations, and Project Management to ensure seamless project transitions.
• Maintain and improve estimating databases, cost history, and benchmarking tools.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 5+ years of commercial estimating experience with a general contractor.
• Proven experience with both negotiated and hard-bid commercial projects.
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction means, methods, and market pricing.
• Experience preparing conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and GMP proposals.
• Ability to interpret architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings and specifications.
• Strong understanding of value engineering, constructability, and project sequencing.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with client-facing experience.
• Proficiency in estimating software, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite.
