Sustainability Manager

Beck's sustainability team offers a full suite of consulting services. We use our expertise to guide our project teams and clients on sustainable and environmentally responsible design, construction, and building operation. Our services encompass a wide range of specialized knowledge, including green building ordinance compliance, third party certifications, energy modeling, life-cycle assessments, and financial incentives for building efficiency. As a signatory of the AIA 2030 Commitment, we report our project's annual Energy Use Intensity (EUI) and our firm's emissions through the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

Beck is looking for a passionate Sustainability Manager to join an extraordinary team at our Dallas Headquarters. The Sustainability Manager will work within the sustainability department to achieve the highest level of building performance. The ideal candidate will have strong critical thinking and analytical skills and will be flexible in a fast-paced environment.

The job involves the following essential functions:

  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop project-specific sustainability goals and objectives.
  • Monitor local, state, and federal regulations and third-party rating systems (e.g., LEED, WELL, etc.) to ensure projects are at the forefront of sustainability standards.
  • Be well informed of, and share knowledge of emerging sustainability trends, technologies, and best practices in the building design and construction industry.
  • Identify potential risk associated with sustainability initiatives and develop contingency plans to mitigate them.
  • Lead project meetings to track integration of sustainability goals and objectives into project documents.
  • Manage third-party certification process for projects, including documentation and submission.
  • Produce high-quality documentation for green building ordinances and third-party certifications. Review documentation provided by the project teams, owners, and consultants.
  • Oversee project resources efficiently, including deliverables, budgets, and schedules to achieve project-specific goals.
  • Supervise and train Sustainability Coordinators and Interns.
  • Provide training and education to project teams, ensuring awareness and understanding of sustainability goals and strategies.
  • Analyze annual financial data and collaborate with hired consultants to complete the firm's annual greenhouse gas emissions reporting.
  • Track assigned design projects to align with Beck's National Sustainability Objective for energy efficiency, water conservation, and healthy building materials.
  • Strong project management skills are required to draw connections between detail-oriented tasks and the bigger picture.

A person with an advanced understanding of sustainable building technologies and rating systems, a passion for getting things done, a positive attitude, and possess uncompromising authenticity and integrity. You will also meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, building science, or a related field.
  • Must have at least 3 years' experience as a sustainability project manager.
  • Proven experience in project management of third-party rating system certifications.
  • Accredited Professional in sustainability (LEED AP) is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Revit, SketchUp and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills.

Frequently required to sit, stand, and move about the office; frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment; may lift and move up to ten pounds; constantly communicates with project teams, Beck employees, and external vendors; ability to adhere to timely and consistent attendance.
