In 1984, Mountain F. Enterprises, Inc. (MFE) was established in Lotus, California with a goal to provide customers with top-quality tree care. As a small residential tree service, it was not long before Mountain Firewood (original name) realized it was time to expand into the firewood business. Four years later, the business blossomed into a full spectrum vegetation management business that specialized in providing services to a variety of customers including federal, state, and local agencies, municipalities, utility companies, timber companies, small landowners, and fire safe councils.

In 2000, our business grew out of the residential tree service and firewood business to providing utility tree trimming and hazard tree removal services to the utility and commercial tree management industries. MFE is currently seeking experienced General Foreman to work in the Greater Northern California, Yreka area.

Job Purpose

The General Foreperson is responsible for checking with the supervisor for the morning schedule. Assessing job priorities and assigning employees to appropriate job sites. Making sure employees have the tools and equipment needed for the job in order to ensure a good output. Overseeing the work and making sure it runs smoothly and as per the plan. Making sure safety precautions are followed including updating safety kits in case of any emergencies during the work. Communicating with the supervisor regarding the crew both positive and negative. Helping in training new employees and helping them as they learn new tasks. They are expected to give clear directions to workers as to what needs to be done to avoid repetitive mistakes by the workers. Making sure company rules are followed by the crew. She/he should make sure jobs are completed on time. The General Foreperson should ensure tools are brought back from job sites. Evaluate the quickest and easiest way to do a job without sacrificing the quality of the work being done. Hold weekly job site safety meetings and keep a record of it in the log for future reference.

Minimum Requirements

Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Foreperson. Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist , ISA Certified Tree Worker , and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional
Have a working knowledge of all equipment associated with line clearance activities. Computer literate.
Must be familiar with the electrical hazards
Possesses working knowledge and be able to identify tree and shrub species
Know, understand, and positively enforce all Company policies and procedures
Must be able to write, read and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information.
Must have excellent communication and leadership skills.
Must have organization skills and be able to multi-task. Must be able to handle confrontational and stressful situations.
Must be able to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work).
Must have 2 years prior experience as a professional Journeyman Tree Trimmer
Must have a valid driver's license. Class A or B CDL with airbrake endorsement preferred.
Must pass a background and MVR check.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Must pass a pre-employment background check.
