Job Description
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, testing, integration, and operation of advanced aerospace, space, communications, and technology systems throughout their full lifecycle. This role applies electrical engineering principles to power systems, communications systems, command and data handling systems, electronic circuits, optical and electromechanical systems, and supporting ground-based equipment.
The Electrical Engineer will contribute to all phases of the product lifecycle, including concept development, design, prototyping, assembly, integration, testing, deployment, operations, and technology transition.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting:
Electrical system design and development for complex aerospace, space, communications, or mission-critical systems
Electronic circuit and printed circuit board (PCB) design for high-reliability applications
Assembly, integration, and testing (AI&T) of electrical hardware and systems
Systems integration and interface development between hardware, software, and supporting equipment
Hardware development from concept through production and operational deployment
This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams supporting multiple concurrent programs.
Design electrical systems, subsystems, and components for advanced technology platforms and mission systems.
Develop electronic circuits, power systems, communications systems, and optical/electromechanical systems.
Design power generation, storage, distribution, and power management systems.
Develop command, control, data handling, and avionics-related electronics.
Design communications electronics including RF components, transceivers, antennas, and telemetry systems.
Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, harness designs, and technical specifications.
Design printed circuit boards (PCBs) with consideration for reliability, environmental conditions, manufacturability, and performance.
Ensure designs meet applicable performance, safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements.
Support systems engineering activities across electrical, mechanical, thermal, structural, software, and other technical disciplines.
Conduct trade studies, design analyses, and technical assessments.
Perform power budgets, performance analyses, and system-level evaluations.
Develop and maintain subsystem requirements, specifications, and interface control documentation.
Support Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and requirements management activities.
Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis to evaluate design options and system performance.
Ensure traceability from system requirements through component-level implementation and verification.
Support electrical hardware development from concept through production-ready systems.
Develop prototypes, engineering models, qualification units, and operational hardware.
Support procurement and evaluation of commercial and specialized electrical components.
Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to develop custom electrical solutions.
Evaluate technologies, materials, and components for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Support redesign and improvement efforts based on test results and operational feedback.
Develop test plans, procedures, and processes for component, subsystem, and system-level testing.
Design and support test equipment and supporting infrastructure.
Plan and execute functional, environmental, performance, and qualification testing.
Conduct troubleshooting, anomaly investigations, and root-cause analyses.
Support system verification and validation activities.
Analyze test data and prepare technical reports documenting results and recommendations.
Support assembly and integration of electrical systems and hardware.
Perform electrical installation, wiring, harnessing, and system integration activities.
Conduct functional testing during integration and deployment phases.
Support configuration management and documentation throughout the integration lifecycle.
Follow applicable safety and electrostatic discharge (ESD) control procedures.
Support deployment, commissioning, and operational testing activities.
Assist with system monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance assessment.
Analyze operational data to identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
Provide technical support during critical operational milestones.
Develop Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and technical specifications.
Create and maintain electrical design documentation, drawings, and engineering records.
Prepare user guides, test procedures, operational documentation, and technical reports.
Support technical reviews and design reviews with presentations and engineering documentation.
Maintain documentation sufficient for independent verification, maintenance, and future development.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams including systems, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and test engineers.
Participate in technical, programmatic, and safety reviews.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
Present technical findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
Support project planning, status reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.
Advanced degree preferred.
Mid-Level Engineer
310 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
Experience with electrical system design, analysis, testing, and integration.
Senior Engineer
10+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
Demonstrated expertise in electrical system design, analysis, testing, and integration of complex technical systems.
Proficiency with electrical design and analysis tools such as Altium Designer, OrCAD, PSPICE, MATLAB, Simulink, LTspice, or similar platforms.
Strong knowledge of analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power electronics.
Experience with PCB design and layout.
Understanding of power systems, communications systems, and embedded electronics.
Knowledge of electrical testing methodologies including functional, environmental, and electromagnetic compatibility testing.
Experience using electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers.
Ability to create and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
Knowledge of electrical safety standards and engineering best practices.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience supporting aerospace, space, defense, telecommunications, or other highly regulated industries.
Knowledge of high-reliability electronic systems and harsh-environment design considerations.
Experience with RF and communications systems.
Familiarity with power generation, storage, and distribution systems.
